The food and the local Bay Area references ❤ La Taqueria made it into this book and I am OBSESSED with this place, such good food I went twice while I was in San Francisco.

I liked that it was set in the San Francisco / Berkeley area – I fell in love with San Francisco when I visited, and I think it’s the perfect backdrop for a cute romance. It was a fun, light, fast-paced read, but it didn’t have a lot of depth – The romance novels that stick out for me are the ones that have depth, complexity, and really memorable fantastic characters. The fake dating trope is one that I’ve seen more in film than I have read in books, but I always really enjoy it.This, to me, is a perfect setup for a great romance movie and the first half of the book played out like one in my head. The meet-cute between the two MCs was perfect – Alexa and Drew get stuck in an elevator together, he needs a plus-one to his ex’s wedding, and she agrees to play along.Jasmine Guillory knows how to write a novel that just sucks you in – regardless of how I felt about the book in the end, I was hooked from the beginning.Guillory is guaranteed to provide fun, lighthearted reads, but I like my romances with a little more depth. This was my second Jasmine Guillory novel and I have to say I enjoyed The Royal Holiday more, I’m just such a sucker for anything Christmas and I did have a few problems with her debut.
